When we started our research on artists we came across the great artworks made by French Lou Ros whose focus lies on portraiture paintings and drawings of bodies in a space without distortion. His oil paintings on canvas are undoubtedly mind-blowing.
“…Basically, I’m more interested in a search for freedom and strength in an unfinished painting than the perfection of a well-finished canvas, which only shows technical prowess.” Paris-based Ros comes from a background in graffiti which might be an indicator for his rough and, in a way, powerful style. He transforms the clear into a blur and the static into something movable.
“I paint in a very instinctive way, following the example of the expressionists who fascinate me.” says the 29-year-old painter who stops working on his works before they seem to be finished.
We have selected several portraits we particularly enjoy!
