Recently ‘A’DESIGN AWARDS & COMPETITION’ released an updated ranking list! The design rankings of countries is based on the number of design awards won at international juried design competitions and awards.The list from 2015 includes 83 countries – 4 more countries than the last time. The table gives us a glimpse into the creative scene of each awarded country and shows us their potentials.
The United Stated are still ranked as number one with 249 design awards followed by Turkey with 219 Awards! Hong Kong, Italy, China, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Germany and Greece are listed under the top 10! The ‘Pencil Sharpener’ by Jaeryong Lee from Seoul, Korea, reminds us of a combination of chemistry, science and design. ‘Halle A’ by German ‘Designliga’ is a clever idea of a creative workspace inside an existing office. David Irwin from Ireland designed a pure, bold lamp named ‘M Lamp’. Claudio Sibille started to design his ‘Marken Desk’ in the Netherlands. ‘Less Sustainable’ is a chair created by Italian Giorgio Caporaso, who worked with cardboard and wood. The ‘Phantom Coat Rack’ is a work by Japanese Yu Hiraoka Design who is based in Milan. A clear form comes with the ‘Illusive Stool’ by Greece Lefteris Tsampikakis. We are drawn by the minimalistic black wooden stool ‘SPRING’ which was designed by industrial designer Andrew Cheng.
