Swede Fredrik Paulsen caught our attention with his latest series of stools titled “TORRI”, which he designed for the namesake Paris-based gallery “TORRI”. They are quite unusual chairs for daily use but they are made out of everyday materials.
The curator of the small gallery, which is located in the city centre of Paris, came to Paulsen and gave him the expression “Mikado” – a game of skill with Japanese and Roman roots – as food for thought. For the designer who lives and works in Stockholm, it was enough to create a wide spectra of green-painted wooden stools which are converted into quite graphical and straight forms.
Fredrik is a co-founder of Örnsbergsauktionen, a member of the design group LAST and a visiting tutor at Beckmans College of Design.
