Hi Benjamin. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Klagenfurt at Wörthersee. A small but smart city in Carinthia, Austria.
Where are you currently based and has this city had any influence on you and the kind of motifs you use for your photographs?
Currently, I live and work in Klagenfurt at Wörthersee.
In Klagenfurt it is not that easy to capture thrilling motifs, but that is quite interesting on the other hand, because I look at things in Klagenfurt differently. I am constantly searching for new vantage points. Because I travel quite a lot, there are also many other cities which inspire me. I see all this stuff as a compensation and especially inspiring to my job. Observing things differently and focussing on basics, the essential is part of my job is as a creative director.
Where have you spent your last vacation and would recommend it to others?
Because I’ve got the sea effectively just in front of my door, I try to visit Italy frequently. I spent my last vacation in Jesolo…I simply adore the Italian lifestyle.
What do you do for a living?
I work full-time as an art director at ‘Agentur Lux‘, an agency which I own also. The ‘Agentur Lux’ is a design studio rooted in Klagenfurt.
How would you describe your photography style?
Following your account on Instagram, you take many photos of buildings. What role does architecture play in your opinion?
Architecture and light plays an important role. In my opinion nearly every building has got interesting forms, contours and shadows which are about to get explored. What fascinates me the most about it is that I nowadays regard things in another angle and hence I get new impressions of my neighborhood.
What kind of Apps do you use for editing your photos?
My photos are moving sometimes through 2,3 Apps till they are ready such as, Vsco, Diptic and Retouch..of course also Instagram itself.
Which Blogs or Magazines do you follow?
The most blogs and magazines I follow actually daily, referring to graphic design such as Behance, Dribbble, MindSpárkle Magazine, Designmadeinaustria, ffffound and vice.
What do you connect with ARTISAN?
ARTISAN is an excellent platform for creatives and therefor me.
